Not sure if this is the best section for this but here goes:
Honest question, when is a carebear no longer a carebear?
Is carebearing character specific or the person? I.E. a guy with a pure indy toon who also has a separate pure pvp toon, is he still a carebear? Or does he have one character that's a carebear and one that is
Discuss. |

Are you speaking of caring about the money he would lose in ships? Cause that actually does make a lot of sense.
So if you are willing to lose ships and don't care when you do, you are not a carebear?
What about if you don't care about losing ships to gankers but all you do is mine? Still not a carebear?

Others might say once the shivers and shakes of combat are also gone, but they are fewer in number. Put a few non-consensual solo kills on your killboard, and call yourself a pvp'er with pride; but remember, its not about space-bushido and 1v1's at the sun in identical ships....just kill something. Hmm. In my first month in Eve I tried to suicide gank a guy who was salvaging the wreck of my alt he had just ganked. I've suicided a few people, and been concorded before my target explodes, numerous times. I've flown in null blobs and in low sec roams. I've wardec'd high sec POS owners and burned their sand castles to the ground. I've also spent a couple weeks exploding as fast as I can in RvB.
I still get combat jitters though with the anticipation leading up to a fight. Maybe those will go away one day. |

That is very true. The only other game that can really get me on edge like that is SC2, but it doesn't last long and it's not reliable. Mostly I find in SC2 I either steamroll my opponent or get steamrolled. PVP in Eve I've found to be a little more reliably exciting. Even when my algos gets shredded by Tengu missiles in about 15 seconds. Still a huge rush. Some fights I actually have to take a breather after. |

I have a hard time seeing you as a carebear. Huge fan btw. :)
also, is anyone else having the forums act really glitchy? |

So since I started this thread I got my first solo PVP kill. Yes his fit was not very good, and yes it was the worst possible setup to counter my tengu, and yes his ship was dual tanked with no web, but still. I had the combat jitters up until I had him disrupted and could see that his artillery was no threat to me. From there on in I was actually surprisingly calm.
Thanks pvp community! |

Or at least fit the orca in a way that's not worth your time or effort. License is more reliable though. :) |

It's Eve, everyone needs to be able to fight back, everyone can fight back. Some may not be able to do so effectively, but you can't blame that on the person who attacked them. |

My first suicide gank the guy asked my why I killed him, "Because you were the first one who didn't warp off." I knew ganking in a brutix was a foolish waste of money, but wanted a guaranteed kill. How was I supposed to know he was flying a 100+ million isk retriever with storyline mining upgrades and faction drones?
I really need to see if he's still mining... maybe he has a new ship? |
